O Bless The Lord

May everything that has breath Praise the Lord! Psalm 150: 6

The eighth century Celi De (Friends of God) community at Tallaght, Ireland, sang the Benedicite every day between the evening meal and vespers.

O all you works of the Lord, O bless the Lord
To the Lord be highest praise and glory for ever!

And you angels of the Lord, O bless the Lord
To the Lord be highest praise and glory for ever!

And you, the heavens of the Lord, O bless the Lord
And you clouds of the sky, O bless the Lord
And you, all armies of the Lord, O bless the Lord
To the Lord be highest glory and praise for ever.

And you, sun and moon, O bless the Lord
And you, the stars of heaven, bless the Lord
And you, showers and rain, O bless the Lord
To the Lord be highest glory and praise for ever.

And you, all breezes and winds, O bless the Lord
And you, cold and heat, O bless the Lord
To the Lord be highest glory and praise for ever.

And you, all that grows in the ground, O bless the Lord
And you, all that swims in the waters, O bless the Lord
And you, all birds that fly in the air, O bless the Lord
To the Lord be highest glory and praise for ever.

And you, all people on earth, O bless the Lord
And you holy ones and humble in heart, O bless the Lord
To the Lord be highest glory and praise for ever.
Selected from the Septuagint version of the Book of Daniel

And may all that is within me
and all things I touch
and all people I meet
this day
give highest glory and praise to you!
